Every aspect of your Lean Journey carries risks. It is the nature of change. The question is how & when do you identify them and what do you do with them once you are aware of them? As Lean Practitioners, you are exposed to risks at every stage of the way and they can derail excellent projects if not correctly managed. Often it not the technical, structural, or even procedural risk that catches you. It can be the people, regulatory or even legal aspects of the risk that trip you up. Using the standard FMEA format, the course will help you deal with all risks.

Course Overview

Every Quality Management System and any ISO regulated business will have to identify and manage risk to comply with their system. All site-based work requires RAMS (Risk Assessment & Method Statement) before beginning work. Lean projects/initiatives are no exception. There are many types of risk to be managed and this course will identify the key areas to focus in on. Stakeholder Analysis is used to identify issues with resources and support. FMEA at design will look to drive out long term issues before they are built in and then there are risks associated with every initiative. The 4 action points will be discussed and how to manage them. Risk identification, acceptance, mitigation, or rejection are alternatives that are open to the process and the benefits of each are discussed and quantified using the FMEA methodology.

Meet your Trainer

Dermot Freeman who is an engineer, a natural teacher and mentor that has been involved in all aspects of Lean/Continuous Improvement over the last 40+ years. He is a Master Black Belt practitioner of Lean and has worked for Irish, German, Japanese and several American organisations across the food, medical device and FMCG sectors. He has worked with companies where Six Sigma was used and abused. He is a storyteller who brings to life Lean from personal experiences of making it real. He is also an ISO Lead Auditor and a Certified Scrum Master using the Lean techniques developed in the software development sector.
Dermot is comfortable working with Micro, SME and multinationals. He has trained and mentored various University Black Belt programs for the last 10 years.
